DO I NEED A FIRE RISK ASSESSMENT?
Yes. As of January 2024, an update to the regulatory form (Fire Safety) Act 2005, states that all commercial premises regardless of number of workers, require fire risk assessment to be carried out.
Who can carry out a risk assessment?
The competent person who carries out a Fire Risk Assessment must have Fire Safety Qualifications. The government is due to amend current legislation by the end of 2025 to require all Fire Risk Assessments to be carried out by a minimum Level 3 Qualified Fire Risk Assessor.
HOW OFTEN DO I NEED A RISK ASSESSMENT?
Fire risk assessments should be reviewed annually or if a change in business operations, change of internal structure i.e. renovations to the building has occurred.
